What is MGF?
Mechano growth factor (MGF) is the name given to a splice variant of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), known in humans as IGF-1Ec. Splicing gives it a distinctive tail region (the E domain) that differs from the IGF-1 circulating in the blood. Because it is studied in relation to mechanical load on muscle, the variant was named mechano growth factor. Research peptides sold as MGF are synthetic peptides based on this tail region.
Names you may see
“MGF”, “mechano growth factor”, “IGF-1 Ec” and “MGF IGF-1 EC” all refer to this peptide, so we list it once, on this page. PEG-MGF is different: it has a polyethylene glycol (PEG) chain attached.
