What is Follistatin-344?
Follistatin is a natural glycoprotein that binds and neutralises activin and other members of the TGF-beta family, including myostatin, a protein that limits muscle growth. Follistatin-344 (FST344) is the longer of its two main forms. It is a 344-amino-acid precursor that includes a 29-amino-acid signal sequence, which is removed to give the 315-amino-acid mature protein. Follistatin has been studied in muscle biology, including gene-therapy research in muscular dystrophy.
